Learning Spanish

We facilitate support for learners of Spanish of all abilities, including free professionally taught lessons for members, and conversation practice. Members also get specially negotiated discounts at Spanish language academies in Spain, as well as the opportunity to get a scholarship to our partner academies.

Conversation Evening

Seven people from six countries, chatting  at our conversation evening

These are FREE informal bilingual Spanish and English Conversation nights.  They are a chance to get to know members of the Society - a diverse crowd and great company - and for practicing your Spanish conversational skills.  A full selection of drinks is available at the bar, as well as hot snacks.

 

The teacher of our Free Spanish Lessons is on hand to help learners with their Spanish and discuss the lessons. You can find out more about the benefits of joining the Society from the Committee.

We provide FREE TUITION FOR MEMBERS (a small charge is made to cover photocopying the course materials).  Non-members are welcome, but pay a commercial rate.

Our teacher is a native speaker from Barcelona and Seville in Spain.

 Courses are taught in Spanish from the start to ensure rapid progress.  If you have any queries, you can discuss the course with the teacher at our conversation evening.

To sign up for lessons, you can complete the following process:

A) Subscribe to the specialised mailing list: follow subscription instructions in this

B) Email your details to <cuhisplessons at gmail.com>, stating your Name, University College or Department or Address, Contact Number and Email, plus Level of Spanish and which course you wish to attend: Beginners and Intermediate.

He graduated with a degree in Spanish and English at the University of Seville, where he qualified as a teacher. After teaching English in Spain for two years he moved to Cambridge, where he has been teaching Spanish to adults.

Apart from teaching Spanish, he has also worked as a language assistant and oral examiner. Pedro is currently teaching Spanish at schools in Cambridge and surrounding areas and working as an Associate Lecturer for the Open University

He also provides one-to-one or one-to-two lessons at a discount for Members.

 

Free and discounted summer Spanish courses in Spain

Each year we are able to award Full Scholarships to Members who have attended our language-learning events throughout the year, to study the Spanish language in Spain.  Our partner institution is Academia Isla at the Salamanca school, with a reputation for rigorous teaching.
